What about the harp? There are perhaps more stories about the harp than about any other musical instrument from times immemorial up to the present day. What is true and what isn’t?
The actually  existing instruments have a right to their own real history. However beautiful the ‘fairy-tales’ may be they often give the wrong information telling more about the people who own the harp than about the instrument itself.
Part 1 of this harp history is meant to give more details about the illustrated and still existing instruments. A short explanation goes with these pictures.

Part 2 shows the pictures and sculptures of instruments as seen by the artists who made them. Some pictures seem to be very close to reality, others are wonderful fantasies. A time-line should give extra insight of how men and instruments changed through time.
